Copy of contract between Marc Antoine Thierry and François Crochet, 1790 Aug. 4.

The text is a copy of a contract from 5 November 1788 between Marc Antoine Thierry and artist François Crochet de la Caillette, regarding Crochet's commission to clean two pieces of royal furniture. The text consists of two parts. The first part is a copy of a text by Crochet, certified on 4 August 1790 by an official whose signature is illegible. Crochet promises the Commissaire of the House of King Thierry to revive and restore the gold and silver of an embrodery which represent the attributes of the fable of Jupiter; he also will repair a piece of furniture in blue velvet embroidered in gold. Crochet is asking for thousands of francs to cover his expenses: he works in gold thread, besides being an artist in the embroidering trade. The second part details Crochet's demands to increase his payments. This part is written in the same hand as the copy of the contract.
